Guardian Homes
A unique opportunity to give a pedigree Siberian a happy, family-centred life
As part of my long-term breeding plans, and to ensure my male cats live full, family lives, I place selected boys into ‘guardian homes’. This allows them to live the life of a normal pet instead of being kept in isolated stud pens, while helping preserve rare, traditional Siberian bloodlines.
What is a guardian home?
A guardian home is a permanent home for a male kitten who will take part in a small, carefully managed breeding role.
He joins your home at the usual age and lives with you as your pet. For a limited period of up to 3 years, I retain breeding rights and arrange occasional, planned visits to my home for stud duties. Once this stage is complete, he is neutered and fully signed over to you with his pedigree papers.
The goal is to give my stud boys a calm, normal family life, while contributing to the continuation of clean, traditional Siberian lines.
The Philosophy
How the arrangement works
The kitten is placed with you from the start and becomes your pet.
For about 2–3 years, he makes occasional short visits to my home (typically 2–3 per year) for planned matings. All logistics are handled by me.
When his breeding role is complete, I organise neutering and transfer all paperwork to you.
There is no fee for the kitten. Your responsibility is to provide a stable, loving home.
A clear guardian-home contract will be put in place, outlining responsibilities, visits, neutering, and ownership transfer. It protects both sides and keeps the arrangement straightforward.
What’s required of a guardian home
This arrangement suits very specific households:
• Location
Within one hour of Preston, Lancashire (slightly further may be possible).
• No other pets until after neutering
Sadly, this includes cats and dogs. Breeding males must not share space with other animals, or regularly encounter neighbourhood animals.
A guardian home should be confident that other cats do not enter the garden or approach entry points to the house, as territorial stress can lead to spraying.
• No proximity to female cats in heat
This is particularly important. Homes should not be near intact female cats, as this can trigger hormonal behaviour and marking, even without direct contact.
• Indoor-only home
This protects health, eliminates the risk of unplanned matings, keeps stress low, reduces territorial behaviour, and protects from harm.
• Someone home regularly
Siberians are sociable and people-oriented and don’t do well with long hours alone. As this cat will be an only pet during his breeding years, he will thrive with the companionship of his family.
• Commitment to the full 2–3 year arrangement
Reliability, communication, and a calm, stable household are essential.
What you receive
A fully health-tested, pedigree Siberian from exceptional heritage lines.
A cat known for its affectionate, intelligent nature and lower-allergen profile.
A magnificent, lower-shedding coat and a typical lifespan of 15+ years.
The chance to raise a top-quality Siberian as part of your family from the very beginning, at no upfront cost.
Why guardian homes matter
This approach allows responsible breeders to avoid keeping males in stud pens. Instead, the boys live enriched, family-centred lives with stability, affection and everyday experience, while still contributing to the preservation of rare Siberian lines with clean genealogy.
